Our honeymoon begins in Paris, where we will spend our first days exploring the Louvre, historic neighborhoods, grand boulevards, cafés, and the architecture that has defined the city for centuries.

From Paris, we will travel to Château des Joncherets, as featured in Vogue, a magnificent 17th century château approximately an hour and a half west of Paris. Built in 1620 during the reign of King Louis XIII, the château sits within the historic Avre Valley.

The château’s gardens were later designed by André Le Nôtre, the celebrated royal landscape architect responsible for the gardens of Versailles. The estate retains its centuries old character, with our suite overlooking the château’s moat, where swans drift across the water and the pear trees and hazelnut groves will be at their seasonal peak when we visit in early November. The garden’s modern restoration was developed in connection with Alice Waters, the tenth recipient of the Julia Child Award, and her renowned Edible Schoolyard initiative.

We chose this location in part for its proximity to Versailles and the French countryside, perfect for visiting several locations featured in one of our favorite HBO series, The Seduction. Seeing these places together has been one of the details we have looked forward to most, especially the historic estates, gardens, and landscapes that brought the series to life. 

This journey marks the beginning of our life together and the commitment we have made to one another and to God. We are grateful to begin our marriage in France, surrounded by places of beauty, history, art, and faith.

In Paris, we will be staying at Hôtel Chamar. A charming boutique hotel tucked into the heart of South Pigalle, at the corner of Rue Pigalle and Rue La Bruyère.

With just 24 beautifully designed rooms, chamar has an intimate, distinctly Parisian character, blending Art Deco influences with soft curves, warm wood, marble, parquet floors, and delicate fluted glass. It feels elegant without being overly formal — the kind of place that makes you feel as though you’ve stepped into your own little Parisian apartment.

Just steps from the Opéra, theatres, department stores, cafés, and some of the city’s most vibrant streets, we couldn’t imagine a more romantic place to begin our honeymoon.
